Just a stay at home mom?

Just a stay at home mom? This is the question most people ask or say in conversation when I say I decided to stay home with my boys for now. Which makes me get down and question why I choose this. So hear it goes, my theory on why I am not just a stay at home mom. First, I had the privilege and honor of attending college and completing my degre in Early Childhood Education. While going to school, I always thought I would be a working mother in order to provide my family luxuries I never had growing up. Then when expecting Lukrik, I thought I could go to school full time, work part time, and be a mom. Boy was I all wrong! I had to stop working, then took only two classes and realized raising a baby was more than I expected. Once I did student teaching, pregnant with Ezekiel, I thought it will not be too bad! Yikes, was it difficult!! Being a teacher requires so much from you physically, emotionally, and intellectually. To be pregnant on top of all that was not a walk in the park. That's when I realized I cannot be a full time teacher, wife, mom, and person for that matter and keep my sanity! So we prayed about it and figured out finishing school was a huge accomplishment, so I deserved to stay home with the boys and be their main care taker. :)
This is what being a stay at home mom means to me and Lucas too...no child care bill! I have the privilege to care for them! I also get to use my experience as an early childhood educator to help my children develop and grow to their full potential! I am able to cook and bake whatever!! I can teach them to pray and sing about Jesus whenever! I have time to clean and do laundry! I get to do fun crafts and sew stuff for my family! We get to go to the park whenever we feel like it! I can attend to my family when they are sick! We take naps when we need them! We can have play dates with friends! My schedule is more flexible!! These are just things I can think of instantly! :)
So when people ask me what are you doing now? I always want to say I am staying at home with my boys so I can raise them to be amazing God loving men that respect others and are genuinely kind just like their Daddy!! ;)
